Ymweliad â Sportcity/Sportcity visit

Ar fore braf ar y 29ain o Dachwedd aeth 29 o ddisgyblion TGAU Addysg Gorfforol ar drip i 'Sportcity' ym Manceinion er mwyn cael profiad o nifer o wahanol stadiwms chwaraeon yn ogystal â chael gwybodaeth am dechnoleg newydd diweddar o fewn y byd chwaraeon. Cychwynnodd y daith yn Stadiwm Etihad (cartref Manchester City) lle cawsom y cyfle i weld y stadiwm, cerdded i fyny'r twnnel, eistedd yn yr eisteddle, eistedd yn ystafell newid y tîm cartref ac ymweld â'r ystafell lle cynhelir cynadleddau i’r wasg.  Cafodd y disgyblion gyfle i holi cwestiynau i'r tywysydd a mawr oedd pleser cefnogwyr Lerpwl, Everton, Arsenal a Manchester City wrth iddi dynnu coesau cefnogwyr Manchester United yn ddi-baid!

Wedi gadael y stadiwm bêl-droed, y felodrom a'r ganolfan bmx genedlaethol oedd nesaf.  Cawsom gyfle i weld sut oedd pobl yn ymarfer yn y ddwy ganolfan ac yn y ganolfan bmx gwelsom dîm Olympaidd Prydain Fawr yn ymarfer eu sgiliau.  Roedd hyn yn uchafbwynt amlwg i nifer o'r disgyblion a'r staff ar y trip!
Yn olaf cawsom ymweld â'r ddwy stadiwm athletau sydd yn 'Sportcity'.  Cafodd y disgyblion gyfle i gael sesiwn hyfforddi gan ddau hyfforddwr cenedlaethol, profiad fu'n sicr i'w helpu gyda'u gwaith TGAU.  Roedd cael sesiwn hyfforddi yn y stadiwm dan-do yn brofiad newydd i'r rhan fwyaf o'r disgyblion ac un sicr y bu iddynt fwynhau

Cafwyd diwrnod gwych a hoffai'r adran ddiolch i'r plant am eu hymddygiad ardderchog yn ystod y diwrnod yn ogystal â diolch i Miss Mari Davies am drefnu'r trip

On a fine morning on the 29th November, 29 pupils went on a GCSE PE trip to 'Sportcity' in Manchester to experience a variety of sports stadiums as well as information about new technology within the sporting world.  The tour started at Etihad Stadium (home of Manchester City) where we had the opportunity to see the stadium, walk up the tunnel, sit in the grandstand, sit in the changing room of the home team and visit the room where press conferences are held.  Students had the opportunity to ask the 'tour guide’ some questions and it was a great pleasure for the supporters of Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal and Manchester City when she constantly made fun of Manchester United supporters!

After leaving the football stadium, the national 'Velodrome'  and bmx center was next.  We were able to see how people trained at both centres and in the bmx centre, we saw the GB Olympic  team practicing their skills.  This was obviously the highlight for many of the pupils and staff on the trip!

Finally we visited the two athletics stadiums at 'Sportcity'. Students had the opportunity to join in a training session with two national coaches, who certainly helped the pupils with their GCSE work.  The training session at the indoor stadium was a new experience for most pupils and one they certainly enjoyed.  It was a fantastic day and the department would like to thank the pupils for their excellent behaviour during the day as well as thanking Miss Mari Davies for organizing the trip.
